A Brief History
“The world of moving images hasn’t had a lot
of respect [in academia], but it’s the major
form of communication in the 21st century.”
George Lucas
The
Epiphani Project has been several years in the
making. Our mission is to create animated
works that promote themes of peace, nonviolence and respect for life. We produce quality films for distribution
on a variety of platforms, including television, DVD, the Internet, mobile
devices and other proprietary user interfaces.
Founding
producer Greg Singer came to Los
Angeles to learn about the art, craft and business of
animation. He has worked in the
production management, story development and executive offices of DreamWorks
Feature Animation, Fox Feature Animation and Cartoon Network, as well as for
such scholarly and industry publications as Animation Journal and Animation
World Network.
Originally
from Washington, D.C., Mr. Singer has a wide-ranging
background. He has worked with UNICEF’s
Cartoons for Children’s Rights campaign, NASA’s space life sciences division,
the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the U.S. Peace Corps, assisting Kenya’s
Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.
He has helped to promote sustainable development of the Alaskan
wilderness, taught computer literacy among Native American youth, and
volunteered with dispute resolution programs and other organizations advocating
nonviolent social change. He also has
partnered with nonprofits and universities to empower greater civic
participation and to improve health care through innovative new media
programming. Mr. Singer holds a Master
of Fine Arts degree in Producing for Film and
Television, with a special focus on Animation, as well as a Bachelor of Science
degree in General Biology.
Storytelling
is integral to human culture. As we
gather around the modern fires of our cinema, television and computer screens,
stories continue to shape our lives and, in their best form, to help us live
rightly. Animation is a unique medium
that has the potential to communicate ideas in an accessible and
non-threatening way, across a spectrum of age, culture and literacy. The Epiphani Project
is committed to serving the interests of the community through an intersection
of visual media and education.
